About
We work on the distance between the data and the decision.
Kordel Data is a data, analytics and AI engineering practice based in Harare, working across Southern Africa.
Most organisations we meet are not short of data. They are short of agreement about it. The same quantity is counted one way in the system of record and another way in the spreadsheet someone maintains by hand. The monthly pack is accurate when it is circulated and out of date by the time it is read.
None of that is a technology problem in the first instance. It is a problem of where numbers come from, who is allowed to change them, and how long the path is between something being recorded and someone acting on it. We work on that path.
In practice that means pipelines, dashboards and automation far more often than it means machine learning. We do build AI systems, and we are candid about when they are premature — a model trained on numbers the business does not trust will produce answers the business should not trust either.
Most of our work so far has been in mining, commodities and industrial services. The problems are not specific to those sectors, and neither are the systems we build for them. An organisation that cannot reconcile two versions of the same figure has the same problem whether it runs a plant, a clinic, a fleet or a trading desk.
We work in small, priced scopes with a stated output, and we hand over source code and documentation so the system does not depend on us continuing to exist.
Who you deal with
Anesu Rirwa
Founder & Data Engineer
Anesu leads the engineering on every project. You speak to the person who builds the system, on the first call and after handover — there is no account manager in between.
How to start
Four steps. You can stop after any of them.
- 01
Brief
A few minutes
A short note through the form: what you are trying to get out of your data, and what currently produces it. Enough that the call starts at the problem rather than at introductions.
- 02
Call
30 minutes
You describe the organisation and where the numbers currently come from. We tell you whether the problem is worth solving with software yet.
- 03
Scoping
1–2 weeks
We map the data you already have, agree what the system must produce, and put a fixed price and delivery date against it.
- 04
Delivery
Agreed up front
We build it, connect it to your source systems, and hand over documentation so your team can run it without us.
Worth a conversation?
If any of the above sounds like your operation, a short call will establish quickly whether we can help.
A free 30-minute call, no obligation. We scope the problem and tell you if we're not the right fit.
